Christina Sikorsky

Christina is ostensibly primarily a functional potter, though she is also not so secretly in love with all things to do with fibre. Always restless to learn something new, Christina set out to learn to measure, cut, embroider, and sew an authentic Ukrainian sorochka some beautiful linen she had bought at a market decades ago. She has now made two sorochky and is working on a third. Christina favours collaboration over playing the expert, and she feels privileged to have worked with some masters in person and online. The vyshytia workshop will offer two primary options. The first option will be making a sampler to learn and master anywhere from three to five authentic techniques. These techniques could be used for a sorochka, a rushnyk, or any garment or decorative item. The second option will be to arrange a private consultation to explore techniques and resources for making a sorochka from start to finish. Please express your interest in advance to allow the instructor to prepare materials to meet your needs.
